Club Championship 2025

To qualify for the Championship, members need to submit results from four events in line with the Championship criteria below. Of these four events, you must submit at least one event from List A and at least one event from List B (see below). The total score from each member’s best four submissions will count towards their final score. The Club will award prizes to the top athletes in the female and open categories. Scores are determined by your age-graded gender (AGG) positioning in the races/events you submit for consideration (further details below).

The events for 2025 are as follows:

% points and prizes will be available for the GTC DIY Duathlon. You can complete this at any point during the year before the end of October 2025, and attempt it as many times as you like. You can go solo or take it on as a group. The three legs of the duathlon must be completed on the same day, but the transition time will not count towards your time (so you can have a cup of tea and cake between each leg!) – only the times for your run, bike, run will count.

Qualification Criteria

Members need to submit four events to be eligible for the Championship. Members must complete at least one event from List A (e.g., a run, a swim, a bike) and at least one event from List B (e.g., a triathlon or a duathlon). This means you can submit one event from List A, and three from List B, or two events from List A and two from List B, or three from List A and one from List B. NOTE - you can only submit two events max for each List A discipline (e.g., you can't submit three runs or three swims, only two of each type). Your age on the date of your event/race will determine your age group classification. Members should submit the races they wish to be included for consideration to the Championship Secretary (Nick Lord) via the GTC email address (glossoptriclub@outlook.com).

Timeframe

For the purpose of the Club Championship, events need to be completed between 9 December 2024 and 1 December 2025 (or prior to GTC Christmas meal).

Scoring

Scores are awarded on the basis of age group/gender (AGG) position either in the race that the member was competing, or in the case of the 400m time-trial, Parkrun or Strava segments, based on the time of the member relative to the national leading time for their AGG in the previous calendar year or the current leading time on Strava segments. The members in the open and female categories with the highest average percentage score from four events will be the Club Champions. Members must provide details of their AGG position by submitting a link to the online results for the completed event. Scores will be calculated by dividing the age group winner’s time by your time to produce an age graded %. The highest average % score at the end of the year will win the Club Championship. (This also deals with age changes throughout the year if competing in different age groups).

FAQs

Q. Is there a requirement to submit the intended events prior to completing them or is it possible to choose the events with the best performances at the end of the year?

A. You can either submit after completing them and we’ll keep track of what's been submitted. You can keep submitting new results if you think they are an improvement on your already submitted results too. Or, if you prefer you could choose your best performances and submit those before the deadline towards the end of the year.
